Most airlines have a dining program that awards miles when a linked credit card is used to pay for dining at a participating restaurant.
Occasionally, these dining programs offer increased bonuses to lure new members.
Which is exactly what Delta’s dining program is doing with its 3,000 SkyMiles promo.
For a limited time, SkyMiles Dining will provide new members:
- 500 bonus miles for your first visit to a participating restaurant within the first 30 days
- 1,000 bonus miles for your second visit to a participating restaurant within the first 30 days
- 1,500 bonus miles for your third visit to a participating restaurant within the first 30 days
If you’re a SkyMiles Medallion Member (Delta’s status program) you’ll earn 1,000 bonus miles – rather than 500 – for your first visit.
The Other Fine Print
Obviously, you need to join SkyMiles Dining (it’s free), which you can do at this link.
Within 30 days of joining, dine at any participating restaurant (you can search participating restaurants here) and spend $30 or more at each visit using the credit card(s) you registered on the SkyMiles Dining site.
Complete a review of each restaurant at which you dined via the SkyMiles Dining site. Usually an email is sent after your visit with a link to provide your review.
After completing these steps three times within 30 days of account opening, you’ll have 3,000 shiny, new, SkyMiles awaiting your use.
If you have a number of participating restaurants in your area – especially if you already frequent many of them regularly – signing up is a no-brainer.
And, going forward, as a member of the SkyMiles Dining program, you’ll earn 3 SkyMiles per dollar spent at participating restaurants – and once you’ve logged 12 or more dines in a calendar year, the per dollar earning bumps up to 5 SkyMiles.
In the Miles and Points game, this is considered low hanging fruit (or miles), just reach out and grab ’em.
