Holders of the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express can earn an easy 2,500 Starwood points by simply adding an authorized user to the account.
Some cardholders have received an email regarding the promotion, while others have not. Nevertheless, it doesn’t appear that this is targeted, open only to those who’ve received an email. As long as you’re a current holder of the personal (not the business card) Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express, you should be eligible for this promotion.
If you did get the promotional email, use it to click through to the application page.
If you did not get an email, you can use this link to add your authorized user.
There is no additional fee to add an authorized user to your Starwood Amex account. However, obviously, you will be responsible for the payment of any charges an authorized user makes on your account. So, choose your authorized user carefully.
To be eligible for the 2,500 SPG points, the authorized user must be added to your account before September 19, 2016.
The typical boilerplate promo language says points will appear in your account within 8-12 weeks following the addition of the authorized user, however, reports have the points posting much sooner than that.
2,500 SPG points is enough to get one free weekend night at a category 1 Starwood hotel.
Personally, I’d add it to my current stash of points, or add to the 2,500 via Starwood stays or SPG Amex spend to get a little better value.
Are you planning on taking advantage of this promotion?
